Dear Tim,
I've noticed that your life is quite difficult in this period of time. With all of this depression type state all of yourlives are put in desparate trouble. You're all on the veirge of death. These are desparate times however hopefully they won't last too long. I can only hope for the best for you two.
When there is something dreadful that may terrify you there is always the shocking positive surprises. All you'll have to do is wait in time it will pay off no matter what standard you may lay at. with every fall you must rise in the end you will prevail. For now I wish you and Mom the best.
Love, Sam

a letter from curzonn.
Dear Country (Isabel),
I am writing this from the prison, um.. little sister, and the guards are watching over and probably reading every word I write, so pardon that. I just wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart for visiting me, but I really do think you should cease.
It would mostly be in your best interest, I reckon. If anyone without a kind spirit turned you in, your ma'am would beat you bloody, or worse. The eyes behind me are getting a bit suspicious. I think the yknow the truth. Alas, best wishes to you, Country.

Letter from Sam to Tim
Dearest Timothy
Right now, I'm in prison. It's cold, the food is terrible, and I'm writing with a piece of charcoal! I'm going to be excicuted for a crime that I didn't do (just in case you didn't know, apperently I stole OUR OWN cattle.)
What really happened was that I tried to stop the real theives, and they beat me up and ran to our base and told our officer that I did it. I caught the first one and held a musket up to him, but then a second one held a knife to me. Please try to talk to general P. to let me out.
Sincerely,
Sam Meeker

Dear Isabel,
Life without you is HORRIBLE!! I hate not seeing you everyday. I'm with this mean family who is always yelling and hurting me. I have scars on my arms from trying to run away.
So Isabel how many times have you tried to run away to came find me? I've heard that the war started, it it scary? The night the Locktons took me, I was nervous. I tried to get away and wake you up but you just laid there. I miss you sooooo much and wish i was still with you!!
Love,
Ruth
